Eurofins opens a new laboratory in Shanghai
On 14 January 2010, Eurofins held the opening ceremony for a new consumer products testing laboratory based in Shanghai, China. The laboratory provides the full range of tests in the areas of household appliances, IT/electrical equipment, textiles, toys and professional equipment and complements the Group’s existing broad range of product testing services offered around the world. The investment is part of Eurofins’ ongoing dedication to satisfying its customers’ needs for a complete range of testing, particularly in the fast-growing economies of China, India and Brazil. The formal event was a big success, attended by key government officials, cooperation partners, client representatives from both local Chinese manufacturers and international retailers.
This laboratory is one of several new facilities that Eurofins now has in China and, alongside another laboratory in Shenzhen which has also started operations, will mean that the Group has about 5,000m2 of dedicated consumer testing laboratory space in the region. These developments further enhance Eurofins’ network of product testing operations in 13 sites around the world, in Europe, North America and Asia. Eurofins Product Testing in China offers a comprehensive portfolio of accreditations with worldwide reciprocal recognition by regulators, producers and retailers alike. As a service provider to the biggest global retailers and major manufacturers in many industries Eurofins can now offer its high quality level of testing with even better turnaround times, with on-the-spot local support wherever our clients are located.
The Eurofins Group is in the process of expanding its network of testing laboratories in China as its customers increasingly look to source testing services where they themselves are developing. Eurofins has recently opened food and pharmaceutical testing operations in Suzhou, not far from this new product testing laboratory. Further investment in the region is planned over the next few years, particularly in China.
